2025年2月14日より、LAID BUGにて、世良義昭によるソロエキシビジョンを開催します。

世良義昭は、火山でのフィールドワークを通じて、写真や映像、立体、グラフィックなど、さまざまな手法で作品を発表しているアーティストです。学生時代に地質学に触れ、SF小説の父とも呼ばれるジュール・ヴェルヌの冒険小説『地底旅行』や、東京ディズニーランドのアトラクション『センター・オブ・ジ・アース』といった親しみやすいイメージから火山に興味を持った世良は、実際にフィールドワークを重ねる中で、ある日死の危険に直面する強烈な体験をします。

「火山には噴火という圧倒的なエネルギーからつくり出された鮮やかな色彩や造形の美しさがある一方で、常に死のイメージが漂っている」と感じた世良は、火山が持つ「死」の要素にフォーカスをあてた作品制作を開始します。

世良にとって初個展となる本展では、写真や映像、立体作品を通じて、自身の経験と思考を鑑賞者に共有し、深い思索を促します。

本展は、作者本人によって「火山心中」と題されました。火山を通じて死と向き合う世良の眼差しからは、生への渇望が見てとれます。火山に魅了され、そこで形成された自身の死生観を明らかにしようとする意欲的な展示となります。この機会にぜひご高覧ください。

On February 14, 2025, LAID BUG will present a solo exhibition by Yoshiaki Sera.

Yoshiaki Sera is an artist who has been presenting his work in various media, including photography, video, sculpture, and graphics through his fieldwork in volcanoes. Sera became interested in volcanoes through his exposure to geology as a student and the familiar images of “Underground Travel,” an adventure novel by Jules Verne, the father of science fiction novels, and the “Center of the Earth” attraction at Tokyo Disneyland. In the course of his fieldwork, he had an intense experience in which he was faced with the danger of death.

Sera felt that “volcanoes have vivid colors and beautiful shapes created by the overwhelming energy of eruptions, but at the same time, there is always the image of death in the air.

In this exhibition, Sera's first solo show, he shares his experiences and thoughts with viewers through photographs, videos, and three-dimensional works, encouraging deep contemplation.

This exhibition is titled “Volcano Suicide” by the artist himself. Sera's gaze, as she faces death through volcanoes, reveals a longing for life. This is an ambitious exhibition that seeks to reveal the artist's fascination with volcanoes and the view of life and death that he formed there. 2025년 2월 14일부터 LAID BUG에서 세라 요시아키의 솔로 전시회가 개최됩니다.

세라 요시아키는 화산 현장 조사를 통해 사진, 영상, 조형물, 그래픽 등 다양한 방법으로 작품을 발표하는 아티스트입니다. 학생 시절 지질학에 관심을 가지게 된 그는 SF 소설의 아버지로 불리는 쥘 베른의 모험 소설 『지저 여행』이나 도쿄 디즈니랜드의 어트랙션 『센터 오브 디 어스』 같은 친숙한 이미지를 통해 화산에 흥미를 느끼기 시작했습니다. 실제로 현장 조사를 거듭하던 중, 그는 어느 날 죽음의 위험을 직면하는 강렬한 경험을 하게 되었습니다.

“화산은 분화라는 압도적인 에너지로 만들어진 선명한 색채와 조형적 아름다움이 있는 반면, 항상 죽음의 이미지를 내포하고 있다”고 느낀 세라는, 화산이 가진 ‘죽음’의 요소에 초점을 맞춘 작품 제작을 시작했습니다.

세라에게 있어 첫 개인전이 되는 이번 전시에서는 사진, 영상, 조형물을 통해 자신의 경험과 생각을 관람자와 공유하며 깊은 성찰을 유도합니다.

이번 전시는 작가 본인에 의해 『화산심중』이라는 제목이 붙여졌습니다. 화산을 통해 죽음을 마주하는 세라의 시선에서는 삶에 대한 갈망이 엿보입니다. 화산에 매료되고, 그곳에서 형성된 자신의 삶과 죽음에 대한 관점을 밝히고자 하는 의욕적인 전시가 될 것입니다. 이번 기회에 꼭 관람해 보시기 바랍니다.
